The Treatment
Facial redness can have many causes.
Sometimes it appears as a few visible vessels around the nose or cheeks. Other times, it can be more widespread, leaving the skin looking persistently flushed.
At Reborn Laser Clinic, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus to treat a range of vascular concerns by targeting the blood vessels responsible for visible redness.
The system gives us access to two wavelengths — 755 nm Alexandrite and 1064 nm Nd — allowing treatment to be customized according to your skin tone, the size and depth of the vessels, and the area being treated.
The goal is to reduce the appearance of visible vessels and redness while minimizing impact on the surrounding skin.

how it works
Under target. Heat. Fade
At Reborn Laser Clinic, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus to deliver controlled pulses of laser energy to selected blood vessels. The light is absorbed by haemoglobin, the pigment in blood, creating heat that damages the targeted vessel so it can gradually close and fade.
Your skin tone, vessel size and vessel depth guide the settings we select. Using the GentleMax Pro Plus Vascular handpiece, we place individual pulses along visible vessels. When suitable, areas with more widespread vascular redness are treated systematically in small sections. Cooling helps protect the skin’s surface and improve comfort during treatment.
Some vessels may become less visible immediately, while others darken temporarily before fading over the following weeks. We assess your response after healing to determine whether further treatment is needed. Laser can reduce visible vessels, but ongoing redness or an underlying condition may require additional management.
what it can do
Before treatment, we carefully assess the redness or visible vessel to determine what we are treating and whether vascular laser treatment is appropriate.
We consider your skin tone, recent sun exposure, medications, medical history, and the size, colour, and depth of the vessel.
Avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure before your appointment and follow any specific instructions provided during your consultation.
Your skin should be clean and free of makeup before treatment.
The GentleMax Pro Plus delivers short pulses of laser energy directly to the targeted vessels.
You may feel a brief snapping sensation followed by cooling. The system's built-in Dynamic Cooling Device delivers a controlled burst of cryogen to help protect the skin and improve treatment comfort.
Treatment time depends on whether we are treating a few isolated vessels or a larger area of diffuse redness.
It is normal for the treated area to look red or slightly swollen immediately after treatment.
Some vessels may temporarily appear darker or more noticeable before they begin to fade. Depending on what has been treated, mild swelling, bruising, or temporary discoloration may also occur.
Keep the area cool and gentle. Avoid excessive heat and strenuous exercise for the first 24–48 hours, and protect the treated skin from sun exposure while it heals.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
Usually, downtime is minimal. Temporary redness, swelling, irritation, bruising, or darkening of the treated vessel can occur following treatment. These effects generally settle as the skin heals and the treated vessels gradually fade.
A vessel that has been successfully treated may remain closed, but laser treatment cannot prevent new vessels from developing. Genetics, sun exposure, rosacea, hormones, and other factors can contribute to new redness or visible vessels over time. Maintenance treatments may occasionally be recommended.
Yes. Small visible vessels around the nose and cheeks are common reasons clients seek vascular laser treatment. The number of sessions required depends on the size and depth of the vessels and how they respond to treatment.
It can be, but wavelength selection and treatment settings are important. The 1064 nm Nd wavelength penetrates more deeply and has lower absorption by epidermal melanin than shorter wavelengths, making it particularly useful for certain vascular concerns in darker skin types. Your skin tone, recent sun exposure, and pigmentation history will always be assessed before treatment.
The two wavelengths interact with and penetrate the skin differently. The 755 nm Alexandrite wavelength can be useful for more superficial vascular concerns in appropriate skin types. The 1064 nm Nd wavelength penetrates deeper and is commonly used for deeper or larger vessels. Its lower absorption by epidermal melanin can also make it particularly useful when treating vascular concerns in darker skin types. We select the wavelength based on your skin and the characteristics of the vessel rather than using the same approach for everyone.
The GentleMax Pro Plus can be used to improve redness and visible vessels associated with rosacea. It is important to understand that laser treatment does not cure rosacea itself. Rosacea is a chronic condition, so redness can return and ongoing management may still be required.
It depends on what we are treating. Some small facial vessels may respond well to a single treatment, while diffuse redness, rosacea-associated redness, or larger vascular concerns may require a series of treatments. We will recommend a treatment plan after assessing the area in person.
Sometimes small vessels show an immediate response, but not every vessel disappears during the appointment. Some may become darker, change colour, or gradually fade over the following days or weeks. Larger or deeper vessels can take longer to resolve.
Laser energy is absorbed by the blood within the targeted vessel. This creates controlled heat within the vessel, causing it to close. Once the vessel is no longer carrying blood normally, your body gradually clears it and it becomes less visible.
The GentleMax Pro Plus can be used for a range of vascular concerns, including facial vessels, diffuse redness, telangiectasia, spider veins, angiomas, venous lakes, and certain vascular birthmarks such as port-wine stains. The treatment we recommend will depend on the type of vascular concern and your individual skin.
