The Treatment
Spider veins and small visible leg veins are extremely common.
They can appear as fine red, blue, or purple lines beneath the skin and are often most noticeable around the thighs, calves, ankles, or behind the knees.
At Reborn Laser Clinic, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus 1064 nm Nd laser to target appropriate superficial leg veins and spider veins.
The laser delivers controlled energy into the targeted vessel, causing it to heat and close. Over time, the body naturally clears the treated vessel, making it less visible.
The goal is to reduce the appearance of visible veins and create a clearer, more even-looking skin tone.

how it works
The 1064 nm Nd wavelength penetrates into the skin and is absorbed by hemoglobin within the targeted blood vessel.
This energy is converted into controlled heat inside the vein.
When sufficient energy is delivered, the vessel walls are affected and begin to close.
Once blood is no longer flowing normally through the treated vessel, the body gradually clears it, allowing the vein to become less visible over the following weeks.
Because veins vary in colour, diameter, and depth, treatment settings are customized to the individual vessel and treatment area.
what it can do

Before treatment, we assess the size, colour, depth, and pattern of the visible veins.
We also look for signs that the concern may involve larger veins or underlying venous circulation rather than superficial spider veins alone.
Before your appointment, avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure and follow any specific preparation instructions provided during your consultation.
Your skin should be clean and free of lotion, oils, or self-tanning products before treatment.
The GentleMax Pro Plus delivers controlled 1064 nm laser pulses directly to the visible vessel.
Most clients describe the sensation as a brief snapping or warming feeling with each pulse.
Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) delivers a timed burst of cryogen to help protect the surface of the skin and improve comfort throughout treatment.
Treatment time depends on the number, size, and location of the veins being treated.
Immediately after treatment, the treated veins may appear darker, redder, or slightly more noticeable.
Mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising may also occur.
These changes are generally temporary. The treated vessels gradually fade as the body naturally clears them.
Avoid excessive heat and strenuous exercise for the first 24–48 hours, and protect the treated area from sun exposure while the skin settles.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
We generally recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, hot baths, saunas, and other sources of excessive heat for the first 24–48 hours. This allows the treated vessels and surrounding skin time to settle following treatment.
You may feel a brief snapping, warming, or heating sensation with each pulse. The GentleMax Pro Plus uses Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device to deliver cooling around each laser pulse, helping protect the surface of the skin and improve treatment comfort. (Candela Medical)
It can be. The 1064 nm Nd wavelength has lower absorption by epidermal melanin than shorter wavelengths and penetrates more deeply into the skin. This can provide greater flexibility when treating vascular concerns in skin with higher levels of melanin. (Candela Medical) However, your skin tone, pigmentation history, and the characteristics of the veins are assessed before treatment to determine the most appropriate approach.
Medical assessment may be appropriate if you experience: Larger or bulging veins Persistent leg swelling Aching or heaviness in the legs Skin changes around the ankles Recurrent inflammation A history of blood clots These symptoms can indicate an underlying circulation issue that cosmetic laser treatment does not address.
No. Large, raised, twisted, or symptomatic varicose veins may be associated with underlying venous insufficiency and generally require assessment by a physician or vein specialist. At Reborn Laser Clinic, laser treatment is intended for appropriate small superficial leg veins and spider veins. If we identify signs that your veins should be medically assessed first, we will let you know.
A successfully treated vessel may remain closed. However, laser treatment cannot prevent new spider veins from developing in the future. Genetics, hormonal changes, prolonged standing, pregnancy, aging, and underlying venous circulation can all contribute to new vessels becoming visible over time. Maintenance treatment may occasionally be recommended.
This depends on the number, size, colour, and depth of the veins being treated. Some smaller vessels may respond after a single treatment, while others may require multiple sessions. We assess how your veins respond before determining whether additional treatment is appropriate.
Not always. Some vessels may change colour or become less visible during treatment, but complete fading usually takes time. The treated vein may initially appear darker before gradually becoming less visible as your body clears the treated vessel over the following weeks.
Yes. Spider veins and small leg veins can be treated using appropriate vascular laser settings. The GentleMax Pro Plus includes the 1064 nm Nd wavelength, which can penetrate deeply enough to target many small superficial leg vessels. (Candela Medical)
Spider veins are small, visible blood vessels that sit close to the surface of the skin. They often appear as thin red, blue, or purple lines and may form individual branches or web-like patterns. They are different from larger varicose veins, which are typically more prominent, raised, or twisted.
