The Treatment
Visible veins around the eyes can make the under-eye area appear darker, more tired, or more shadowed, even when the skin itself is healthy.
These vessels are often blue or green and may appear beneath the eyes, along the temples, or around the outer eye area.
At Reborn Laser Clinic, we use the Candela GentleMax Pro Plus 1064 nm Nd laser to target appropriate periorbital veins.
The 1064 nm wavelength penetrates deeply enough to reach these vessels and delivers controlled heat within the vein while minimizing unnecessary impact on the surrounding skin.
Over time, the treated vessel closes and becomes less visible as the body naturally clears it.
The goal is simple: soften the appearance of prominent veins and create a clearer, more refreshed-looking eye area.

how it works
Periorbital veins are superficial blood vessels that can become more noticeable through the thin skin surrounding the eyes.
The GentleMax Pro Plus uses a 1064 nm Nd wavelength that penetrates deeply into the skin and is absorbed by blood within the targeted vessel.
The laser energy creates controlled heat inside the vein, causing the vessel walls to contract and close.
Once the vessel is no longer carrying blood normally, the body gradually clears it, allowing the vein to become less visible.
Published studies evaluating 1064 nm Nd treatment for periorbital veins have reported high levels of improvement and patient satisfaction. (PubMed)
what it can do

Before treatment, we assess the colour, size, depth, and location of the vein to determine whether it is appropriate for laser treatment.
We also consider your skin tone, medical history, medications, and any previous treatments around the eye area.
Because treatment is performed close to the eyes, appropriate laser eye protection is essential throughout the procedure.
Before your appointment, avoid tanning and excessive sun exposure. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or skincare products around the treatment area.
The GentleMax Pro Plus delivers controlled 1064 nm laser pulses directly into the visible vessel.
Most clients describe the sensation as a brief snapping or heating feeling with each pulse.
Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device (DCD) delivers a controlled burst of cryogen to help protect the skin and improve comfort during treatment.
Because the treatment area is close to the eye, each vessel is treated carefully and only when it can be safely accessed.
Immediately following treatment, the area may appear red or slightly swollen.
The treated vein may temporarily appear darker before it begins to fade.
Mild bruising or tenderness may also occur.
Published reports generally describe a relatively short recovery period, with temporary redness, swelling, or bruising among the most common effects. (PubMed)
Keep the area cool and treat the skin gently. Avoid excessive heat and strenuous exercise for the first 24–48 hours, and protect the treated area carefully from sun exposure.
QUESTIONS, ANSWERED
No. The vein needs to be visible, accessible, and appropriate for laser treatment. Treatment may not be recommended depending on the location of the vessel, your medical history, skin type, or other individual factors. If we believe the vein should be assessed by a physician or treated using another approach, we will tell you.
No. Periorbital vein treatment targets blood vessels, not pigment. If your under-eye darkness appears more brown than blue or green, pigmentation may be the more significant concern and would require a different treatment approach.
A successfully treated vessel may remain closed. However, laser treatment cannot prevent new veins from becoming visible in the future. Genetics, skin thickness, sun exposure, aging, and normal vascular changes can all contribute to new vessels becoming visible over time.
You may feel a brief snapping or heating sensation with each pulse. The eye area can be sensitive, but the GentleMax Pro Plus uses Candela's Dynamic Cooling Device to help protect the surface of the skin and improve treatment comfort.
Periorbital laser treatment requires additional precautions because of the proximity to the eye. Appropriate wavelength selection, treatment technique, and proper laser eye protection are essential. We only treat vessels that we determine can be safely accessed.
It can—if visible veins are contributing to the darkness beneath the eyes. However, dark circles can also result from pigmentation, hollowness, shadowing, or thin skin. Laser vein treatment will not correct these underlying causes. During your consultation, we assess whether visible vessels are actually contributing to the darkness you are seeing.
Some periorbital veins respond very well to a single treatment, while others may require additional sessions. Published studies have reported significant improvement after one or a small number of treatments, although results vary depending on the size, depth, and location of the vessel. (PubMed)
Not always. Some vessels visibly contract or change colour during treatment. In other cases, the treated vein may appear darker before gradually fading over the following days or weeks. Your body needs time to clear the treated vessel, so the final result is not necessarily immediate.
Yes. Appropriate periorbital veins can be treated using long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd laser energy. Research evaluating 1064 nm Nd treatment of periorbital and temporal veins has reported strong clearance and high patient satisfaction. (PubMed)
Periorbital veins are visible blood vessels around the eyes. They commonly appear as blue, green, or purple veins beneath the lower eyelid, around the temples, or near the outer eye area. Because the skin around the eyes is naturally thin, these vessels can become particularly noticeable.
